Wine For the People
Gina Burchenal Grant: $5,000
Since 2014, winemaker Rae Wilson has been producing 100-percent Texas-grown vintages under the Wine For the People label to cultivate the international reputation of the Lone Star State as an emerging wine region. As a woman-led business in a heavily male-dominated field, Wine For the People also strives to provide pathways for women and people of color in winemaking.
The grant funding will be used to make improvements to its newly opened tasting room and support a first-of-its-kind apprenticeship program — an initiative that will provide experience and specialized training to women with a goal to build equality and diversity in the wine industry.
