Helmed by Shirene Garcia and Curtis "Ifa Sakin" Williams, Tierra Todun is a woman- and minority-led family business offering handmade Jamaican patties and gourmet pies to the Austin community. The menu is plant-based, health-conscious, and made from scratch using quality, organic and non-GMO ingredients. Currently operating out of farmers' markets, the business aims to establish a wholesale operation employing previously incarcerated persons.
Grant funding will allow the owners to purchase equipment, minimizing the need for hand chopping and allowing for bigger batches of pie crusts.
