The Cook’s Nook
AFWA Grant: $5,000
The winner of the 2017 Gina Burchenal Grant, The Cook’s Nook is a unique business incubator and shared commercial kitchen that supports Austin-area entrepreneurs. In addition to providing a 2,000-square-foot space for food preparation and co-working, founder Joi Chevalier offers business development and networking tools for Austin’s next generation of culinary talent, with a focus on underserved communities.
The grant will be used to expand The Cook’s Nook’s audience and support emerging businesses that need specialized equipment, like blast chillers and planetary mixers, to become Austin’s first shared space supporting bakers and confectioners.
