Among the Austin pioneers to make liquid nitrogen ice cream with seasonal local flavors and artisan pairings, locally grown SPUN Ice Cream sought to develop Austin’s first mobile liquid nitrogen science “lab” for schools and youth-focused nonprofits. 

SPUN’s transparent approach to making fresh-to-order ice cream allows food and science lessons to come to life in an interactive, fun way. Owners Ashley and Christina Cheng's goal was to fund an ice cream truck to support the business while helping to develop an in-depth science curriculum for science teachers.
