Food Policy Council of San Antonio
San Antonio Food & Wine Alliance Grant: $5,000
Under the umbrella of the Food Policy Council of San Antonio, the Padre Park Community Food Forest is a four-acre agricultural space utilizing flood plain areas to cultivate crops and dedicated to permaculture experimentation, indigenous agriculture education, and addressing food insecurity. The project leaders are committed to community leadership, food sovereignty, and living co-creation with South Side residents and the community at large.
Grant funding makes the project more usable to visitors through a deck gathering space for educational programming and events and bike racks and benches to increase accessibility.
